The present work - the second in history of Simbirsk - Uljanovska on a chess theme. Whether there was a necessity for its writing? In fact the Ulyanovsk chess players do not have visible achievements, and at us somehow it is not accepted to write about unsuccesses. So the sceptic, overlooked that a chess are an element of culture of any civilized society will tell. And successes or unsuccesses cannot affect the attitude of people in any way to the conventional culture.

Yes, among our chess players is not present either Olympic champions, or world champions as, for example, in a bar or bandy. But it is necessary to recognize, that the majority of known sportsmen are friends of a chess - in fact a chess promote development of intelligence, and without the self-critical, analytical approach to uchebno-training process and the original scientific organization of preparation and participation in competitions seldom who manages to reach high boundaries.

Very much badminton players, tennis players, athletes like to while away leisure behind chess game... And here known in the world begunja from Dimitrovgrad Olga Nazarkina in school days even was at the crossroads - whether seriously to engage in a chess, whether run on long distances.

Besides in city and areas in a chess played always, and the history at a chess is. Here were and there are the sportsmen known in the Volga region, Russia, the world. Were exact also and there are tireless enthusiasts-organizers of a chess, trainers and to know their names the wide public should.

Whether and it is possible knowing histories, to establish the reasons of rather low achievements of our fellow countrymen? Probably it is possible, but accuracy of such research will be insignificant. And whether there were at us opportunities to lift a level of our chess in former years? And what it is possible to make now? The author gives the answers. Also there is a hope, that our sports functionaries, art workers will read this work and will draw appropriate conclusions.

On our ground our known teacher, the chess player, the trainer, the organizer and simply interesting person Sergey Pavlovich Hramtsov who was given out all conscious life to a chess was engaged in a writing of history of a chess in due time. And, speak, has written her. But where she? Probably, this book will help regional specialists to study closely once again Sergey Pavlovicha's kept archives and to find its monography.

There is an assumption, that the information resulted in the book mozhetpredstavit interest and for chess players of cities of the Volga region (Kazan, Samara, Saratov, etc.), Voronezh, Orel, Saint Petersburg and even Moscow. And to be surprised to this it is not necessary - the chess world does not become isolated in one even the big city and migration of people across immense Russia (Soviet Union) unites all cities of our Native land.

Believing, that with the book veterans of a chess will familiarize also, the author has decided to result chess parties in the chapter " Creativity of conducting chess players " in more habitual for them notations - full, - and hopes, that the new generation of chess players will understand it.

The basic materials for the book have been found out in a study of local lore department of the Ulyanovsk Palace of the book. Thus newspapers "Dawn", " the Economic way ", " the Proletarian way ", " the Ulyanovsk truth ", " Ulyanovsk komsomolets ", mainly, have been used, etc. The Part of materials managed to be found in Ulyanovsk regional archive. And the author expresses words of gratitude to all workers of the mentioned establishments which have rendered the necessary help not to absolutely patient selector of the chess information. Special words of gratitude - to the senior bibliographer of the Palace of the book, deserved art worker Nikitinoj Nina Ivanovne.

It is a lot of the information which have been saved up for last 25 years, our veteran of a chess Homsky Alexey Ivanovich has transferred for use in the present book. Rendered the essential help in gathering the documentary information, and also A.S.Bylevsky, O.M.Rozov, V.S.Gusakov, V.I.Krivosheev, A.P.Try, J.B.Driz, S.V.Tsibinogin, N.S.Hramtsova, family of deceased N.M.Blohina and many others have shared the memoirs, for what the author intimately thanks them.

The big gratitude is deserved by the editor of the newspaper " the Life and economy " V.M.Sharygin given an opportunity of publication of fragments of the book on pages of the newspaper that has given to confidence to the author in a finishing stage of preparation of the manuscript, received responses on the published materials from chess players, historians and is simple our fellow countrymen.

The present work does not apply for absolute true - some facts resulted in the book, demand additional checks and researches. About what the author fairly admits. And it will be grateful to everyone who will give additional materials on history of a chess on the ground Simbirsk. At a statement of a material sometimes there are surnames without the initials. The reason is simple - to establish it was not possible.

The author will count the problem executed if this book though to some extent will help to reveal the reasons of progress of a local chess insufficient, in our opinion, to arrange for statement of chess work up to the mark, to increase numbers of chess players and to prepare new masters and even grand masters of chess game.

Considering a problem of the Ulyanovsk chess in historical aspect, it is possible to notice a number of laws. And the main law - the attitude of authorities to a chess and chess players.

Up to 1917г. a chess, as an element of culture of a society as game were destiny, certainly, educated people. And their names are known - for R.S.Shiffers, N. Д. and P.D.Iliny, Ulyanov's family (Ilya Nikolaevich, Alexander, Vladimir, Anna, Dmitry).

With coming to power in 1917 of workers and the peasants headed by true intellectuals, accents in development of a chess in Simbirsk have been transferred on weights. About it speaks even that fact, that in 1919 - in a heat of civil war and foreign intervention - conducting chess players of Simbirsk of that time S.P.Hramtsov and I.M.Kotov for rise of a chess and checkers in city and province have been recalled from militsejsko-revolutionary armies. Revolutionary powers have allocated for these purposes and a worthy premise.

In 1921 a chess became part Vseobucha of workers - already by the end of this year in city was totaled about 500 organized chess players. And from this army of fans of a chess strong players - V.N.Vvedensky, N.K.Pletnev, L.Kajev, etc., adequately representing our city on Volga region tournaments began to be allocated and grow by leaps and bounds.

However gradually the ignorant people blinded only by thirst of authority began to come to a management in the country and in our city. In result by the end of 20th years the trade unions supervising a chess, have actually given up in material and encouragement to chess players... Moreover, in the middle of 30th years art workers of those years destroyed chess players even physically [25]. And S.P.Hramtsov - the main leader of our chess players during many years - has lead some months behind a lattice...

These years Ulyanovsk for the different reasons was left by the most capable young chess players - V.N.Vvedensky, L.Kajev, A.F.Ivashin (future champion Kujbyshevskoj of area), etc. At that time M.N.Vasilevsky - one of our chess masters and the organizers, the first has tried to analyse a situation and to develop expedient measures to a conclusion of our chess from that hole in which they appeared...

After it - and already in other years - did attempts somehow to change a situation in a chess and S.P.Hramtsov, both V.B.Nekrasov, and V.S.Gusakov, both M.Kober, and V.G.Nikitin, both A.M.Bogatov, and A.I.Homsky, and I.N.Dymnov, and... They Came to reasonable, really feasible conclusions, but the cart of problems of a chess has remained and until now.

The reason again has prevailed over heavy years of Great Domestic war, it is possible because have changed also structure of power structures (that unreasonable heads in days of ruin can make?), and the attitude to a chess. Within war it has not been broken any superiority of city, qualifying tournaments, sessions of simultaneous game were carried out...

In 1942 under the invitation of local authorities our city was visited by grand master Andre Liliental. And in 1943 (in a year of formation of area) on a chess - hardly probable not by a unique kind of sports, - superiority of the Ulyanovsk area has been lead.

At the end of war and the first post-war years at us were designated bastings of rise of a chess and as mass kind of sports, and as element of culture of city. In a chess V.S.Gusakov, V.I.Krivosheev, S.V.Tsibinogin, N.M.Blohin and many others at this particular time have taken a great interest.

Also it is necessary to notice, that wavy law in rise and falling of a chess is precisely traced and today, that directly is connected to the general culture of power structures.

Last years - years of return transition from socialism by the wild capitalism, characterized by the period of initial accumulation of the capital, a chess in Ulyanovsk appeared in complex position: about 2th years the city chess club has been closed on repair (and where only it was not necessary to search for a shelter to chess players!), any more exit competitions for a long time are not financed, on a minimum chess tournaments even a city level are financed, the unique chess detsko-youthful sports school (ДЮСШ-9) is closed. Chess players appeared during the certain moment and without encouragement of city authorities. Position something reminded the period 20 - 30th years...

From authorities it is necessary a little - a material resources as chess club which already is, and some necessary attributes. Can they doubt - whether it is necessary to break spears? Costs or does not cost - the reader will make a conclusion.

Actually vigorous business organizers are necessary for successful development of chess game as kind of sports besides a material resources, 2) strong chess players and 3) perspective young chess players with trainers 1).

For today we have strong and skilled organizers in person A.I.Homskogo, V.N.Popova, A.P.Try, A.V.Jamshchikova, etc. Their long-term experience allows and to support in present conditions a chess at quite decent level. Also there are proved hopes, that already in the near future firmly will rise on legs and will show itself as organizers A.G.Gajsin, V.V.Pirogov, A.J.Ibragimova...

Whether and there are at us the chess players capable adequately to present our city in inter-regional competitions? It is possible to name many names. But it is better to be limited to only those, ktouzhe " has smelt gunpowders " in similar competitions: candidates for the master of sports V.Pirogov, I.Markin, M.Abduljazanov, J.Krjukov, first-rank sportsmen R.Shamshetdinov, I.Nikonova, A.Ibragimova, etc.

And in fact him literally " attack pjatki " absolutely young A.Ariskin - on last superiority of area has selected 2,5 spots from 4 at candidates for the master of sports and has borrowed a honourable 4 place; V.Balashov - in a semifinal of superiority of Russia has borrowed 1 place in the vozvrastnoj to group and has exceeded norm of a candidate point; I.Eruslanova - has very successfully acted in superiority of city 1995г., and earlier she adequately acted and at republican competitions.

There is at us a change. Their preparation skilled trainers (alphabetically) have provided A.M.Gajnullin, V.J.Golubev, V.I.Krivosheev.

But at absence of a material resources education of change expensively manages. In fact neither in Kazan, nor in Samara, neither in Saratov, nor in... Do not puzzle where to carry out employment with young - at them is fine DJUSSH with the premises. Do not puzzle where to take this or that chess book - there are libraries. Do not puzzle and in searches of worthy sparring partners - are equipped with computers of last generations and since the childhood accustom young to work on them.

Not so that reflect there, on the party, and above a question - as, for whose account to leave on competitions? Go - and go not singles, and the whole commands of pupils and trainers. For comparison a living example. On last semifinal of superiority of Russia among schoolboys our V.Balashov could go in Kstov Gorki area only owing to sponsor's support. And here from Tatarstan on the same competition has arrived 25 person! Perhaps, not all of them have acted successfully. But have found the main thing - about p y t. And without experience and in mature years it is difficult to act at once adequately.

It is necessary to recognize, what not all chess players show the general high culture corresponding to a chess as art. It is possible to agree, that it is better to some to carry out a free time in wine pogrebke or in a beer stall, but in any way behind a chessboard. Happen at chess players and contentions, - as a rule when the qualified refereeing competitions is not provided and when sports passion surpasses other parties of a chess. It is shown, usually, after the lost parties.

But and here true dzhentelmeny chess game - V.I.Krivosheev, A.M.Gajnullin, S.V.Tsibinogin, A.S.Nesmelov, A.F.Polischuk, R.U.Shamshetdinov, V.I.Nizhnik, I.G.Osetrov and many, many others? Or and here our signorinas - I.A.Nikonova, A.J.Ibragimova...? Ideal people are not present, but among chess players and shahmatistok well in any way it is less than decent people, than in other kinds of sports.

Only at the end of left year chess players at last have experienced attention and "fathers" of city - efforts of the mayoralty of city had been handed over in operation city chess club. Also it is necessary in vseuslyshane to tell, that such fine club at chess players of the regional center still never was.

Moreover, at opening club mayor S. N.Ermakov promised and to help chess movement of city further. And this help will be as never by the way - not brisk walls even excellent club cannot make active a chess life in any way.

And the club should become the present cultural center. And make it only cultural and skilful people can - praktikuemymi now feldfebelskimi methods of present director of an object in view to reach it is impossible.

In business of revival of club depends much and from chess players - the amicable, rallied work of city chess federation will allow to stimulate creative growth of working chess players, to lay down higher aims young.

But the voice of federation - the public organization which has collected in the numbers the best chess forces of city, - can appear is simple komarinym squeak if the city sports committee will continue to go in other way. Here again there should be a unity - in conditions of developing democracy everyone has the right to the opinion, but after acceptance of the joint decision of a mismatch in actions should not be.

We have missed the chances in the twentieth and fiftieth years, could not make jerk and as sportsmen speak, "to get" neighbours in the eightieth years (those years our command became the champion of RSFSR and the silver prize-winner in the championship of the USSR on correspondence) it is impossible to miss the chance now. Time in a underside does not go.
